Worked scenario
The relationship was with the trainer, not the centre
When the client relationship and the client record both belong to an individual, their departure takes both.

Trainers build genuine relationships, and that is what makes personal training work. The commercial question is where the record of that relationship lives.
Cover is the everyday problem
Before any departure, there is illness and holiday. A covering trainer starting without the member's history delivers a worse session, and the member concludes the centre is inconsistent.
Not about distrust
Framing this as protection against trainers leaving makes it adversarial. Framed as making cover work and letting a trainer hand over cleanly, it is something most trainers support, because they also carry the cost of covering blind.
Channel matters
Where all communication runs through a trainer's personal phone, the centre has no visibility and no continuity. That is worth changing gently and early, rather than discovering it at a resignation.
What changes
- Member programme and history held by the centre
- Progress records visible to any trainer covering a session
- Communication through channels the centre can see
- Continuity possible when a trainer leaves or is unavailable
