Made to the drawing, wrong for the room

A survey produces dimensions. Manufacture follows weeks later. In between, other trades have worked in the same space.

The snapshot ages

Plaster, flooring and services all reduce a room. A unit built to pre-plaster dimensions does not fit, and the fault is genuinely nobody's — but the cost lands on whoever manufactured.

Re-check is cheaper than rework

A confirmatory measurement before cutting costs an hour. Rework costs material, manufacturing time and an installation slot, and it usually arrives with a delayed handover.

Attribute the cause

Rework recorded without a cause becomes a general quality concern. Split into survey error, site change and manufacturing error, it usually turns out to be dominated by one, and only one of the three is addressed by being more careful in the workshop.
