A client asks for an image from a previous job — for reuse, reprint or a new campaign. The photographer has it, somewhere.
Date is the wrong index
Clients remember the occasion, not the date. An archive organised by shoot date requires the photographer to reconstruct the calendar before searching.
Licence terms belong with the files
What a client may do with an image is agreed at booking and rarely stored with the images. Years later, neither side is certain, and the photographer either gives away usage or refuses a reasonable request.
What changes
- Shoots indexed by client, event type and date
- Delivered selections identifiable separately from raw files
- Usage and licence terms recorded against the shoot
- Storage and backup status known per archive period
