Clients follow people, not premises. A salon with five chairs may have one stylist booked three weeks out while another has openings tomorrow.
The average hides both problems
Reported together, the salon looks comfortably busy. In practice it is turning away work on one column and paying for idle time on another.
Building a column takes intent
Newer stylists fill up only if clients are guided to them for suitable services, deliberately and early. Left to overflow, they stay underused and eventually leave.
