Worked scenario

Two batches on one floor

Tile batch variation is normal and only becomes a dispute when a top-up order is supplied without anyone checking the batch.

3 min read

Tiles are produced in batches with acceptable variation between them. A floor laid from two batches shows it, and it cannot be fixed after laying.

Top-ups are where it happens

The original order is usually one batch. The extra two boxes ordered a week later are whatever is in stock, and nobody checks because nobody recorded the first batch.

Quote the batch quantity

For a project, how much of one batch exists is a material fact. Distributors who quote it prevent the problem at the point of sale rather than managing a complaint after installation.

What changes

  • Batch recorded against every dispatch
  • Top-up orders matched to the original batch where stock allows
  • Customers told the batch position before a top-up ships
  • Batch quantities visible when quoting a project
