  • Batch and serial capture at dispatch

Data exchanged

  • Scanned barcode or QR value
  • Matched product, batch or serial record
  • Quantity and location

Setup requirements

  • Scanners in keyboard-wedge mode, or a camera-equipped device
  • Barcodes printed or mapped onto product masters
  • An agreed barcode symbology

Permissions required

  • Device access; camera permission where a phone is used as the scanner

Security and privacy

  • Scanners transmit only the encoded value; no separate credential is involved.

Known limitations

Stated plainly, because finding these out during implementation is worse than knowing them now.

  • Products need a barcode on the master before scanning is useful.
  • Damaged or poorly printed labels fail to scan regardless of the software.
